Many large projects mostly batch pharmaceutical but also others such as
power generation have been and are being specified in detail with
ControlDraw. Tens of thousands of hours have been spent building models and programming
and then testing systems that were specified with ControlDraw. The plants
with Control Systems designed with ControlDraw are now running well, and
their models are being kept current, in fact used for improvement projects on
the plants.

System and user requirements
Pentium 400+, 128Mb+, plenty of disk space and at least 800x600 resolution screen.
A higher performance machine is highly recommended.
Users should have a reasonable understanding of MS Office and software.
What's new in ControlDraw 2:
Version2 removes all limitations in ControlDraw1 and makes it possible to produce good looking diagrams integrated with your entire specification. Not as pretty as Visio, but much richer in data.
Interactive Equipment Module Building and Simulation
With ControlDraw2 you can animate the diagrams by giving objects and connections dynamic properties. Objects can be programmed to calculate their outputs from their inputs. Programming is in VBScript, and a simple drag and drop editor is provided. Many of the symbols dynamics are automatically assigned when you first drop a symbol into a diagram.
Put a page into Run mode and you can open and close valves, start and stop pumps, watch the material flows and snapshot the state as a picture or to form a row in a matrix. This is an ideal way to design Equipment modules for example.
ControlDraw2 has Automatic SFC and State
Transition Diagram simulation.
SFC and State transitions have a token based execution engine.
If you design S88 phases, you can run your phases as you design them. Smart
steps can link into your physical graphic.
Supports as much text as you need to describe each object on a diagram
Each object has a tag name, and a text field.
Text can now be placed inside objects or individually placed
User text can now be up to 64K. This means that you can write your entire specification within ControlDraw.
Many new object shapes and properties
Ellipses, Hexagons, Triangles and many more - you can now draw P&ID type instrument symbols, S88.02 Procedure Function Charts, Bubble diagrams like EasyCase and more. Shapes can be filled with any colour. And you still can put pictures into each object like ControlDraw1
Smarter connections
You can have Curly (Bezier) lines, direct lines and yes (at last) manually routed lines. And connections can be split to show a 'Connects to' at one end and a 'Connects From' at the other
In run mode, data flows through the connections in between the symbols on a diagram
Many new editing features:
Drag handles for all objects and all lines, just like Visio and the others.
Quick access to object and line properties from the new toolbars.
Type text straight onto the page.
Here are some screen shots
The Object Toolbar
This provides control over the appearance and other properties of each symbol.
The Connection Toolbar
This is used to control the type, routing type and colour etc of connections.
Logic Diagram simulation
ControlDraw has simulation capability, here a logic diagram is running dynamically. You can also animate process diagrams, Sequential Function charts etc.
The Main Screen
This shows the Milkshake Plant CIP Generation System diagram in Run mode.
New Outline Style Navigation
The outline display enables direct navigation to any object or page in the model.
Model Class Hierarchy
There are many vies on the structure of a model, this is one. It shows a tree view of all the unique class hierarchies in the model.
The Object Shape Selection Form
Shapes selected from these options can be placed directly into an object (bmp, wmf, gif or jpg format).
The Arrows Selection Form
There is now a choice of many arrows at the ends and in the middle of each connection.
The Symbol Formula Editor
The Page Browser
This shows all the diagram in a model at a glance.
